Smashing to have all these dates and will copy them. The Battle of Culloden was on the 16th of April 1746 and apparently only lasted 45 minutes! Large losses though especially in the aftermath. Christine - lived in Inverness for 38 years! |

Denis I take your point on last British King to die on the Battlefield, it should have read last English King and have updated. James IV who died at Flodden was King of the Scots. Bannockburn would come under the Wars of Scottish Independence (1296 - 1333) Keith |

Well done Keith! However, surely the last British king killed in combat was James IV at Flodden, 1513? You might also add to your list the minor scuffle at Bannockburn in 1314? Denis. |
