Hi Kat, Thanks for your kind offer. Could you please see if you could find John Parr on the '41 census, Devon. John was born in 1793-94, East Whittering, sussex and was a Coast Guard. Probably in Swaby, Whitepit[t], Aby, South Thoresby, Walmsgate or Burwell. It looks like a long list but they're all very close together. kat, thanks for checking, james holden is a big mystery, cant find him on any of the census (1851 - 1901). 3 of his 4 kids were born in gedlng (wife, pattys home town), but im wondering if he and his wife died young and the kids were sent up to g/parents in yorks. as for the sheltons could be a george (c 1779), james (c 1785), william (c 1787), john (c 1788), thomas (c 1792), william (c 1794), robert (c 1801). seem to have been born in the gedling, notts area, but i only have baptism records to go on. the rest were all girls, im assuming they married. thank, sara

SARA Sorry, not much help I'm afraid. No James Holden in Nottinghamshire all parishes aged between 36 and 45, have tried variants. Sheltons There are 57 in Gedling and 394 in whole of Notts all ages. You will have to be more specific for me to find anything, sorry. Kat
