Short of something to do O decided to tackle ten new pages of Not Matches. Thought I would be crafty and only do the first page - that way, as I deleted them then some would move forward from page two to page one. This was reasonably successful and I finished up with page one clear of 'new matches'. Decided to have a quick look at page two, deleted the first one which of course took me back to page one. Ten new Not Matches on page one! Where did they come from? Was GR uploading them as I was working? Do the Not Matches rearrange themselves willy-nilly? (Got rid of Thomas Green, born in Kyoto, Japan, by the way. The Greens never went to Japan as far as I know) Olde Crone |

lol!! After the fun I've had the last two days, nothing here surprises me anymore. This site had a personality of it's own................and a very bizarre one at that. |

Well, mine don't (rearrange themselves willy-nilly) Surely if you delete the first entry on page two, you would stay on page two, but the second entry on that page would move to the top and the first entry that had previously been on page three, at the top, would move to the bottom of page 2?? I think I need a glass of something............. Merry |

they do randomly re-arrange themselves as you go through them. I have one page of hot matches that I keep permanently cos I'm waiting to see who they add to their tree and/or I've already made contact with them I delete mine starting at the last page (more time consuming as you have to keep clicking back to teh last one when you delete) but quite often when I do this the 'keepers' will jump for no reason whatsoever to the last page Hope that makes sense Z xx |

I was contacted through Not Matches (is there a copyright on that name?) about 6 months ago by a name collector who wanted to see my tree to snatch around 300 names that don't link to her rellies (mine Dorset, hers Lancs - the only like she could offer was her Samuel born same year as mine but 197 miles apart, so OBVIOUSLY they MUST be the same person!). I wouldn't give her access and she got snotty. Today she came up on my Not Matches again.....but this time she has matches with a whole mass of my rellies too!!! It would seem one of the other researchers on here (there are at least half a dozen of us, all 6th cousins all researching this Dorset family) must have relented. Gggggrrrrrrrrrrr!! Not Matches are not a good idea. Merry |

Thank goodness Zoe understands what I mean! Merry - if you delete the match at the top of page two,(or anywhere else, for that matter) it automatically takes you back to page one. It was this unwished-for visit to page one which showed me all these new matches which appeared by stealth when I was busy on page two! I had cleared page one of all new matches before going to page two. Olde Crone |

I obviously delete with my eyes shut.....That's probably why I never see any matches.......! Merry |

Merry That's because you havent got any!!!LOL!! I recently had an email from someone who had a few matches and wanted to see my tree. I said no, but gave her some information and offered her more if she wanted it. She never replied. I notice she has recently uploaded the siblings of the first lot - ha ha, she's got it wrong (I have the Will, which I would have been happy to share with her). Olde Crone |

Yes, they definitely do rearrange themselves, and I haven't quite figured out how it happens yet. By the way, Merry, you turned up in my latest batch - we both have a Sophia Brown in our trees! Spooky, eh? Kate. |

Sandra Yes, that is exactly what I was doing, but had reached the point where I wanted to keep everything on page one.(Well, not quite true, but I havent figured out how to get rid of Happy Genes error matches - there isnt a delete button for them!) It was when I went onto page two that it all rearranged itself. It is truly a mysterious and wondrous site, is GR. Olde Crone |
