No, can't find a marriage or a death between 1898 and 1901 for her in the name Elliot either. But I just had a horrible thought - what if she was calling herself Annie in 1901?! I think I will have to throw the towel in now! Kate. |

Kate, Thank you once again.. I have no details of my grt grandparents unfortunately, all I know is my granddad was Henry but it was shortened to Harry, on his marriage cert it says Father William Edward Elliott deceased occ wheelwright.. this was Feb 1931 He died yrs before I was born and my dad doesnt remember that much as his dad was away a lot in the army. Having the name William as a father I applied for a birth cert, same yr same area same fathers name apart from the middle name on the birth cert says James, and that the occ was carman not wheelwright, thats how I found the Bowen family name. This is the marriage Surname First name(s) District Vol Page -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marriages Jun 1898 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOWEN Nellie Annie St. Saviour 1d 216 Dear Dulcie Clara St. Saviour 1d 216 Demmon Alfred Frederick St Saviour 1d 216 Elliott William James St Saviour 1d 216 Debs x |

Debs, I wasn't looking for that marriage! I knew you had already found it; I was trying to find out whether Ellen / Nellie could have married again after Henry was born and before the 1901 census. Kate. |

Kate - Sorry, there's me getting a touch excited here that I might have made a break through lol, I know from what my dad tells me that there was an Emily Elliott, as he remembers seeing her at his dads funeral in 1960. So im assuming she might have been younger. Brenda - Thank you, but the birth cert I have says Henry George Elliott born 1898 Dec, and his parents are William James Elliott and Ellen Annie Elliott nee Bowen of 23 Andersons Walk, Lambeth. So im pretty sure its the same family but as Kate says the enumerator has made a few mistakes. Thanks Debs x |
