Y BIBL CYSSEGR-LAN, SEF YR HEN DESTAMENT A'R NEWYDD. Published in Llundain (London) by George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode. 1,155 pages, black decorated leather on hard boards, gilt lettering and five raised bands on spine, gilt-edged pages. Dimensions: 11.25 x 9 inches (28.5 x 23 cm). Condition: This copy is in good condition. The hard cover is clean and sturdy with light wear to the edges and rubbing at the corners, light surface cracking on the spine (mainly at the ends), and a few minor surface marks. The pages are clean and securely bound with occasional foxing, though the endpapers are rather grubby. There are many handwritten records (in English) of births, marriages and deaths of Joshua Jones and his family of Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, between 1858 and 1938, recorded over three pages on and either side of the New Testament title page. Also, the following four documents are tucked loose inside: Superintendent Registrar's Licence for Marriage between Joshua Jones and Gwenllian Evans, 1858; Marriage Certificate between Joshua Jones and Gwenllian Evans, 1858; Notice of Compulsory Vaccination of Mary Jones, 1859; The Blinds Down, a religious pamphlet with a handwritten 'in sympathy' inscription, 1877
