Ooh, I am condemned to never talk about my Green Cone! I got mine through the Water Board (yes, that's right, the Water Board) a few years ago. It was quite expensive I seem to remember but it has been worth its weight in gold. It even devours turkey carcasses (topical tip as the season of goodwill is nearly upon us again). The only thing it wont eat is large quantities of oil, but I happily scrape the roasting tin into it. You can also put raw waste in it, but I prefer to put veggie stuff in the compost heap. Drawback - you need somewhere in your garden to 'sink' it and you need to dig a hole the size of a large round washing basket. You can grow stuff up it, over it and round it - they suggest beans! I expect if you googled Green Cone, something would come up! Olde Crone

Jess Having endlessly studied mine, I'm sure you could MAKE one - well, not you personally perhaps, but your Domestic Slave? You would only need to buy the powder, which is about £3 for a years supply (two years in my single-person household). But it doesnt do doggy doo! Olde Crone

Jess Bow Bag Report 4 Jun 2006 22:22

Domestic slave ? where the devil do you get them? does the water board sell them too? if you mean ''HIM''- no chance! I'm the DIY Goddess in these parts! I did have one of the dog 'do' digesters in the old house - didnt plant it in the right place . Bobin never got a ''hole in one'' once. Mind you, the seat didnt look too comfy!

Oh dear - how to tell you this Jess.... Bobbin wasnt supposed to sit on the b*** thing, you were supposed to chase her round the garden with a coal shovel and thus deposit the, erm, deposit, in the Dog loo. Olde Crone

If you're sharing out cones - can I have two scoops, hundreds and thousands and a 99 flake please?

Elizabeth Report 4 Jun 2006 22:40

I hope you lot never stop having fun. You make my morning. Yes, there is a time difference. Noboby in my family is interestded in family history and I have to use the computer in my husband's office, and he does work from home!! But, when I get fed up with my Ketleys, you always give me a laugh. Thanks.

Jess Bow Bag Report 4 Jun 2006 22:42

Paul, dont think you want two scoops of anything out of Old Crones cones. (say that 3 times , part P*ssed and see what it comes out as!!)

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 4 Jun 2006 22:43

Paul - they are awfully big cones - are you sure you want a whole one? Elizabeth No, no-one in my family is the slightest bit interested in Fam Hist, other than my brother, whose role in the research is purely to pick holes in what I have done. Its a lonely row we have to hoe, sometimes. (Still thinking about the expression on poor Bobbin's face, being forced to sit on the loo) Olde Crone

Actually , what you can't imagine is the expression on Jess's face, as she tried to get a 4 year od, totally barmy springer ( with extra spring) to do ANYTHING its told. Total exasperation!!

Paul Barton, Special Agent Report 4 Jun 2006 22:49

I trained my dog to seek out a drain grating whenever he needed to and he would always do so without being told. Living in London it was essential that he knew never to foul the pavement and he was still 100% reliable. He would walk along the kerb until he found a grating, do a couple of circles and then settle into the position. Even so, a passing motorist once shouted out that I was a filthy b*****rd ... which completely mystified me as the offending matter disappeared straight into the sewage system. There's a lot of people out there who just hate dogs.

Tee hee! I had a Springer who would NOT do it in her own backyard. She could hold it if necessary for several days (inclement weather) and I would be forced hysterically out into the storm. Two steps beyond our front gate and she would let go, much to my embarrassment as we lived on a main road. I never went anywhere without several tesco bags in my pocket, but the abuse I got from passers-by was quite stunning. Olde Crone

Oh No, couldnt have that! Bobbin is quite relaxed about where she 'performs' - garden, pavement, landing carpet,.........
