Hi Lunar, dont know if you can help, i am searching for a William Hurtley on any census record except 1881 ( place of birth not known) poss yorkshire , on his sons marr cert in 1919 he was described as a bootmaker/shoemaker/master clogger and also desceased. thanks jackie

Could you possibly look up the birth of Thomas Gardner in Soberton in 1838? Mother was Hannah Gardner, Father was Richard Gardner. Hannah was a widow by the 1851 census. Could you see if his father was alive in the 1841 census please? I can only date Thomas's birth by the 1851 census and would really appreciate your help on this especially if you are able to give a reference for a birth certificate if you have time. Hi Gillian With the geddes family I can do no more than find the birth record for William as he is to young to appear on any censuses. If you get hold of his birth certificate, it will tell you who his parents were and dad's occupation at the time of his birth. You could then look for his parents on the census and/or their marriage certificate. Thank you for your help Lunar, I'm not sure if there is a connection to these families as Fred Is as elusive in NZ as in the UK.. Unless he changed his name or it was another name that was similar to FOX. Except for the family here we have no information except his marraige cert. Hello, thank you so much for your offer. I am at a loss with my G G G Grandfather John Whiteman who married an Emily Morgan. I think John was born in Scotland but Emily was born in the Manchester area around 1840ish. I have been unable to find a marriage listing for them anywhere in the country and it's driving me insane! I know they had their first child in 1861 in Chorley who was William Henry Whiteman. Could you do a search on John and Emily Whiteman? This would be much appreciated! Kind Regards **Update** Sorry, William Henry Whiteman was born in Chorlton, not Chorley. Emily Morgan was born in c1837 and John Whiteman was born c1832. They did live in the Manchester area for a few years (between 1860 and 1865, before moving to Ireland). I would very much like to find out where they were married. Many thanks again
