Hi Lunar My Trowell family - in the 1851 census Rebecca is the Head so why do you say husband not at home? Sorry for being thick - haven't been doing this very long. As I see it Rebecca is a widow! Sandy

Hi Sandy Althought Rebecca is the Head in 1851, it also says that she is Married on the image. In 1861 it then says she is Wid (Widowed). That's why I think that her husband is away from home, he could have had to go away for work or was visiting family.

Isobel Clapton appears to be in Somerset or Gloucestershire (there are 2), I wonder if he had ment Clapham which is in London, Sussex and Bedfordshire (there are 3) The Clapham in London is in the district of Wandsworth. This one fits with what he gave on the marriage certificate. Jamie Do you have any idea of when and where Aladdin might have been born as there are a couple of various spellings on the Welsh censuses. As you don't ask for 1901 I wonder if you have that record from GR or National archives. e.g. Aladdin Gibbs 50 Glamorgan Merthyr Glamorganshire Merthyr Tydfil Pedlar In ...Etc

I've got the census image for that. he was born in Merthyr Tydfil. I assume his father (also named Aladdin) was born there too. The curious thing is, if he's 50 at the time of the census (1901) that would suggest he was born in 1851. I recently purchased his marriage certificate (where he was known as Ladding) in 1866 and it states his age as 18 - meaning he would have been born in 1848! This 3 year gap intriguies me and so I wanted to track his movements through the census returns and fine out more about hi
