Hi Elaine, sorry i seem to have confused you. william was definately her first husband says spinster on the marriage cert. I am looking for Sarahs father being a John (labourer) what I cant understand is why I cant find Sarah, william and their son william on the 1841. that is why I thought perhaps she may still be at home even though she had had a babyx |

Could this be a marriage ?? John Parker Year of Registration: 1837 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Bristol County: Avon, Gloucestershire Volume: 11 Page: 156 Sarah Foord 1837 Jul-Aug-Sep Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire John Parker 1837 Jul-Aug-Sep Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire ---------- from the IGI Sarah Ford Christening: 20 MAY 1821 St James, Bristol, Gloucester, England Parents: Father: Charles Ford Family Mother: Ann --- but did you say her father was John - in which case no good !! |

so a couple of possibilities for the death of John before she got together with William Franklin John Parker 1841 Oct-Nov-Dec Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire or John Parker 1844 Apr-May-Jun Bristol Avon, Gloucestershire (from free BMD) |

Hi Elaine, this is so kind of you I do appreciate it, this entry is a distinct possibility. Sarah Parker did not become Franklin until the latter part of 1851 she did have a son william in 1840!! I am trying to find her parents, know her dad John a labourer wht couldn't he have been called josiah or jeremiah or Ebenezzer or something of the like!!! xx Just looked again elaine and looks as if Sarah is married to John, this cant be right after all!! bum... |

I seem to be losing the plot on this one (getting a bit confused here) does this 1841 entry have anything to do with it. Elizabeth Parker abt 1841 Gloucestershire, England St Philip and St Jacob Gloucestershire John Parker abt 1821 St Philip and St Jacob Gloucestershire Sarah Parker abt 1816 St Philip and St Jacob Gloucestershire William Parker abt 1840 Gloucestershire, England St Philip and St Jacob Gloucestershire |

Hi Elaine, yes that is where I have the info!! He is down as being born in 1840 on the 1851 census though, mind you they can be a year or so out cant they, so it may be a possibility that sarah was still at home in 1841 xx |

Have just seen this on the IGI William Franklin Christening: 23 FEB 1840 St Philip And Ja, Bristol, Gloucester, England Parents: Father: William Franklin Family Mother: Sarah Is this where you got the information from - if so be careful as it is member submitted and therefore its accuracy cannot be relied upon. |

Hi Nell, William 1840 is still around in the 1851 census where he is with William Franklin and Sarah. I know the name is so common that is part of the prob, I cant find william Franklin, Sarah or william on the 1841 together. that is why I thought I would see if she was still at home even though she had had a baby. I wouldn't put anything past this girl, getting married 11 years after the first child was born and saying she was a Mrs Franklin when she wasn't til years later.....the hussy!! |

Hi Jools one was born in 1840 making her 1 Jools, that is the one over the page. What I want to know is if this could be my Sarah Parker at home, but if it is where is the baby she had in 1840 (william) could it be that there is an error on the census and elizabeth 1840 is really william 1840?? xx |

Is William, baptised 1840, still around in 1841 and later? Or did he die and the couple have another child with same name? I must say, with surnames like Parker and occupations like labourer and first names like John and Sarah, you need to double check you have the right folk all the time. nell |

Yes there are 2 elizabeth parkers in the family. The one on the page ref you gave (last one on page) I think is age 14. The one over the page (first on page) I think age could be 9 not 1 What does anyone else think? |

Morning everyone!!! Now this is the thing: William Franklin and Sarah Parker (some may remember me trying to trace this marriage) Had their first child William in 1840 christened 23rd Feb 1840 in St Philips and St Jabobs Bristol. William Franklin born 1818 and Sarah Parker 1821 both in Bristol. Finally tracked marriage down married 1851 in Lambeth. Got copy of certificate yesterday father of Sarah Parker is John Parker a labourer. Couldn’t find William and Sarah and son William on the 1841 This is the mystery bit. Found a Sarah Parker at home with a John Parker (Labourer) on the 1841. Parish, yes you guessed it St Philips and St Jabobs!! If this is she though where is William senior and junior??? There is a baby of a year in the house but it is a girl called Elizabeth, I know she is not a sibling as there is already a girl called Elizabeth in the house! Thought that this may be William born in 1840, and a mistake on the census. However I tracked the Elizabeth born in 1840 in the 1851 census and it seems she may have been a niece or something. Could some kind soul have a look at this at tell me what they think? 1841 Source H0107/378/2 Folio 27 Page 2 |
