HI Can any1 help me again please lol I got sent 2 pages to transcribe and downloaded one and have done it....when I went back to my homepage and logged into Members Page I typed in my Number and on Open Assignments there are now 11 transcriptions in the list.... Where has the second one they sent me gone? UPDATE: I think I have sussed it but do I need to send them together as One transcription? Are all 11 for me? UPDATE: Yep just spotted my number next to them all.... I have done Births pg102 1865 Q3 ...I think I need to send them both as One transcription if I read the Email correctly.....Do I need to send them together or can I send them seperately???? Hi Lesley, After following your recent thread, I too have signed up to transcribe to Free BMD, I had thought about it on and off for quite a while but hadn't done anything about it. After seeing all the encouragement from other member's to you I decided to sign up, I have done my test page but am just waiting for hubby to download verify so I can check what I have typed. If you hadn't posted the thread I probably still would have been thinking about it! Sarah

WOW Sarah thats Great :~)))) Well done YEAH :~))) It is easy really isnt it.... I just having probs sending my FIRST page through but I think its worked ok now :~) Should be on in 48hrs they said.... Im so chuffed... Im so glad you read my thread and plucked up courage to join aswell Although I must say I felt rather Bullied by this lot in here lmao JOKING ALL :~))) They are all lovely and nudged me forward.. Hi Lesley Your right it is really easy to do, I managed the inital set it up myself (which I'm really proud of) as I'm not really confident when it comes to downloading/setting things up, but got totally confused when it came to download/save Verify, I'll have to hurry up hubby so I can get started properly. Again thanks for your thread and hopefully it will encourage others like me who have just thought about it to actually do something about it. Sarah

Sarah I know what you mean about confident with downloading stuff....Im the same scared of messing whole PC up and its my daughters aswell.... so I usually leave it for her to do but I managed the Free BMD stuff myself as the Email explained it all.. I also printed out the Emails with the info on..and also the training Instructions so that I can just look at them anytime while transcribing without having to open my Emails all the time.... If anyone's still reading this thread, I found it and also decided to offer to transcribe, my mentor is great, once I'd got started it just got easier [except for some rather poor scans :-( ]. Have just finished my first 10. Gave myself a medal. Did wonder if there are scribes up there listening to us cursing their handwriting ... 'Is that Frances or Francis, wish you'd put a bigger loop on your 'e's or dot your 'i's firmly mate.'

Well Done Mavis Woohoo It is easy But I agree about the writing on some images.. I have been given 1858 Births First Quarter So far only struggled with a few of the Spellings so far lol Hope you have as Much fun as I am at the Moment with it :~) Lesley :~)

Yeah Sylvia Woohoo :~) They are very helpful at Scan2 dont be worried about asking for any help if your stuck....My advisor is Angela and she is great and made me feel very welcome and has already answered some problems I have had and She was also quick in replying...Think I was just lucky she was in her Emails at the time lol So thats 4 including me that have joined since I started this thread YEAH US.....lol :~))) Have fun it is easy when you have done a couple...the writing becomes easier to read as you begin to recognise the style of letters.... thanks for the encouragement. My coordinator is Derek hopkins in Canada.....early days yet still waiting for email but i'll let you know how i get on....or if i have any problems. I am glad I've done it as its a mamoth task to do just cant wait to get started now Sylvia x

Sylvia Yes mine is Derek aswell but you then get a Helper / Trainer that you can email and ask for help as Derek is so busy... When you complete a page you have to send it through to FreeBMD and to Derek for him to put on his Database.. One thing I have found VERY useful is to PRINT off any help Pages given in your Emails...That way I can look at the help given without having to find it on Scan2 webpage....its so much easier....eg Layout of Scan Headerpage hints on Spellings etc..... I would say yes, put them both in. The idea is to type what you see, and that would include any discrepancies. Who knows, they could actually be two different people born in the same place!!! I have heard from my coordinator now, after an absence of three months. I picked up a message from one of the syndicate also trying to get hold of him, and HE put us in touch again. Now I've got loads of marriages from 1851 to do.
