Mine are all in Manchester which was pretty built up by the 1870s, so maybe they put full addresses on, instead of USD. Merry - along the top of the cert, Death registered in USD St George Manchester. But if it gives an address, you could check this against the nearest census, to see if it was a private house, or a workhouse! OC |

Thank you all for your help last night. I'm not sure if I have come to any conclusions about what if means yet, but once I have worked out how to do an address search on the 1891 census I might have an answer Best wishes to you all Cheryl |

Cheryl, You can do an address search for 1891 on 1837online. This will tell you the civil district, ecclesiastical parish and schedule number for the address. Then go to Ancestry and click 1891 at the bottom. Select the right county and town/parish under the search box. Keep going until you have a list of districts. Select a few of the Description pages to find the districts with the correct ecclesiastical parish (usually three or four districts next to each other). Then look at the actual pages - jus your known schedule number each time. Or.....tell us the address! Merry |

Hi all, the address I am looking for is 18 Exeter Street Stockton on Tees. I have managed to find 1891/01 but I am having trouble finding 1881. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheryl |
