You could have found the marriage yourself on freebmd

What else do you know about these people?
Ages? Children's names? Have you found them in any censuses?


If these people are not related to those mentioned on page 1 of this thread, you would be better to start a new thread of your own.

I can't see any such marriage in England / Wales on FreeBMD.

ive just read through the thread again-i think you are worrying too much-the change in place names has been explained and it pulls together in terms of droxford,shirrel heath,shedfield and Bishop Waltham- they are all close by. Droxford and Shed field were in the Bishop waltham Hundred and Shirrel heath is 2 miles away.

Just nudging to see if anyone else can offer some advice. Deb

This really doesn't help with your question but might come in handy at some point The Parish of Shedfield was formed in 1894 from part of the Parish of Droxford. A major local government re-organization took place in 1894-95 owing to the growth in population, and boundaries were changed in every county throughout the whole country. New parishes were created for areas of urban growth where previously a single parish had covered a vast area of agricultural land. Shedfield used to be a tithing of Droxford Parish but was elevated to the status of civil parish by the Local Government Act of 1894. Droxford and Shedfield were in the Bishop's Waltham Hundred, and Shedfield was recorded as early as 1337 in a Court Roll which added the Tithing of Shedfield to Droxford. Agriculture, horticulture and fruit-growing were important local occupations, as was brick-making. Many of the buildings in Shedfield village date from the nineteenth century although a few houses are older. The Parish Church of St. John the Baptist was built in 1875 to replace an earlier structure, of which the buttressed tower still remains. The parish registers date from 1829. For future reference after looking at the village records on IGI there is a definite move of Carpenter activity from Bishop Waltham pre 1840 to Shedfield(basically Shirrel Heath) post 1840.

Witnesses at her first marriage were her new hubby's brother and wife Second marriage they were her old hubby's sister and husband..so that doesn't help There is an interesting name on first Hubby's death cert though...The informant was an Emily Bud of Amery Hill. I was thinking she could have been Jane's sister?? I have been looking into that this morning but haven't found anything yet.

For starters Shirrel Heath is 2 miles from Bishop waltham-so thats OK.
