Oh thank god, the back up cd for my tree has worked and Im only a month missing - if I can get into my home page I can just copy it. I cant believe this - Im gobsmacked it just failed like that PLEASE peeps back up everything you have on a frequent basis. Now Im gonna have a lay down, this has freaked me and I still havent got my bloody word processing program back on here. BACK UP EVERYONE Yes, a good firm hand is what Glen has always need, I shall get my surgical gloves ready for him tomorrow bright and early. Nite guys.

Mum, A tip- get a pen drive and load all your stuff on that just in case you lose docs and stuff next time-size of a throwaway lighter-about £20-lots of memory.

Ooo Heather, how well I know that awful feeling, the moment when it dawns on you that youve lost everything..... I have a database with over 10,000 events, comments etc, which is locked into my old computer. I am trying to gather the strength to copy it out BY HAND (LOL) because the old pooter was riddled with virus and I dont dare try to transfer it in case the virus hops across with it. Oh, and of course, even if I can access my database its in gobbleydegook, cos the old pooter wouldnt let me download a new version of Javascript... Fortunately I have everything on paper, but when I think of how long it took me to put 10,000 items into my database I want to weep. OC

Heather, welcome back. I just asked OH about your query but he suggests you shout for an expert (Judy in the states or steve) as, if you have got windows back he thought it should just re-load. Ann Glos

Sorry, busy adding back my favourites and stuff. Im so annoyed. I got the puter people out a couple of months back (stillunder year on site guarantee) told them about terrible clicking, clunking and whirring noise when puter was on and they just replaced a fan. Of course now we realise it was the hard drive going and of course its now over a year and so no on site help. Can anyone tell me - I dont have the little box on the left hand side when I start up my puter that says START and all that and close down. How do I get that back anyone please??

Hard drive crashed completely - computer still under guarantee but they said up to 2 weeks to do it , so Ive had it done locallly now - still cant get me display right and IVE LOST EVERYTHING. Will be fiddling with it for days now to sort it. Merry, have you been erm collecting anything due to me????
