Hello Sue, Yes that looks likely - I knew Eliabeth was from Lancashire, so that looks a good possibility. Thanks Mark |

Hi Jan, No I haven't been able to locate them in 1861. Mary Jane had a brother Richard Brown born abt 1851 (he was a witness at her wedding) and I can't find him on the 1861 census either. Mark |

I have the marriage cert of my g-grandmother Mary Jane Brown. She married aged 21 to William Dudley also aged 21 in Foleshill. Her father is given as John Brown Watchmaker. I also have her birth certificate from November 1861 (why do all my ancestors manage to miss the census by a few months!?) - father John Brown - occupation Watch balance maker and mother Elizabeth Brown, formerly Simpson. They were living at Thomas Street Coventry at that time. I know that Elizabeth remarried and she, Mary Jane and Richard Brown are living with William Elliott by 1871 but can't find a death for John between 1861 and 1871. I also can't find a marriage between John Brown and Elizabeth. Any ideas? Mark |
