Hi I transcribe for Free cen,but have taken ages nearly finished the disc tho,do like doing it but find myself talking to the computer while typing!!!! Am I going mad???

Welcome to the club Ann, No it's just another symptom of a TA. I talk to the orginal scribes!! Usually not very politely, but very occasionally thanking them for clear writing. Mavis

My Interests Include...Looking for dead people....Walking round Cemetaries reading Gravestones.....Searching for other people's dead Rellies.... lmao lesley yes i've come out of the closet i am a mad addict. actually i am getting better by the minute...lol done 4 today and i will do some when i get back from the shops. had the evening off last night. i had to have a break....we played monopoly and i lost BOO HOO! never mind i'll get my own back. see ya later Sylvia T.A.

Hi, I'm a transcriber too, for FreeBMD. Mainly because I wanted to give something back, as its been a very valuable tool for me in my research, and it's free. I don't do any during the week as 50% of my job is data entry, and I work full time, so I need a break, but I do try to put in a couple of hours at the weekend. At the moment it's straining my eyes a bit, so I'm doing little bits, but next week I get my specs, then I'll be away! I enjoy doing it, and find it a great way to relax, believe it or not, considering I have to do so much data entry at work, but I can do this in my own time, and my own pace, which is not dictated by the amount of faxes coming in lol.

WELCOME TERESA :~) Nice of you to join us... I became a Transcriber too for the same reason to give something back to the project as it has been very valuable to me and so many others...I have only been doing it for just over 2 weeks and am totally addicted once I start lol However little or much someone does it ALL helps and one day it will be complete.....I dont blame you only doing a bit at a time as you do work full time but I dont at the moment so I have too much free time to Transcribe and thats why its becoming a problem for me lol At least you seem to be able to control the urge to type page after page after page lol Well done :~) Loopy :~)

Lol Teresa. I already wear glasses and I still struggle I just squint and Zoom in til I can understand what it says lol.... I would suggest NOT going for an eye test and getting new glasses then otherwise your whole life will be sat at a pc lol Loopy :~)

Too late, already had they eyes tested this morning, glasses ready next week!!!

Hi I'm Wendy here on the Sunny Isle of Wight. I became a FreeBMD Transcriber on Monday after reading the other thread. I've done 5 so far and yes I must admit:- I'm addicted to transcribing as well as searching for dead people! My husband and son can't understand my fascination. I too leave the cleaning and the ironing (don't even know where it is!). I'm so glad I'm not alone. Must get back to my transcribing, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! Wendy
