Yes, I'm the one with Smoothy mistranscribed as Lenorthey - and also Timothy! One of the Moore daughters is down as Thorne in 1871! I suppose its easier when you know what its SUPPOSED to say! nell off now to check further info. Thanks again.

This site can give you a ''guided tour'' but not all the links have been completed, so you need to persist. Mainly the individual features are there (e.g. font, pulpit); http://www.ely.anglican.org/parishes/swavesey/ Christine

I put her name into Google and this came up... Descendants of William Trundley Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM1 ... More About ANTONETTA TRUNDLEY: Christened: October 3, 1819, St Andrews Churchyard Swavesey Cambridge England ii. HENRY TRUNDLEY, b. ... familytreemaker.genealogy.*com/users/o/l/l/David-I-Ollerton/FILE/0144text.txt - 37k - googled Henry and got next bit; More About HENRY TRUNDLEY: Burial: August 7, 1844, St Andrews Churchyard Swavesey ... More About HENRY TRUNDLEY: AGE AT DEATH (Facts Pg): 1 yr old Burial: but the link is broken - but it's the same chap as transcibed TRUNDLEY MIs in the link below (and gives an e-address there). How/where did you find that submission, Nell? I can't get it to come up at all on the LDS site. Christine PS - may be obliged to relinquish computer seat in order to go and buy rations for the week!

There's an Iris Trunley on the Ancestry Names-boards. She's a lonely soul - the only posting (12 Sep 2004 8:31 AM GMT) and with no reply: <<< would love to hear from any one with the name trunley , trundley or any other similar name. please email me iris.trunley§talk21*com >>> Maybe she has something useful for you - if the e-address is still valid, of course! Nell - that submission does look very plausible, doesn't it! Christine

I suppose the ''Anty Trundler'' name suffers from the fate of anything unusual in transcription/enumerator terms - ''It can't be that, I'll put this''. - it is you who has Smoothey/Lenorthy in your family tree? Christine

Lots of Trundly/Trundleys born Swaveley on 1881 index AND I've found this - I know its a personal submission, but still, it gives the submitters name. CamDex has these TRUNDLE? marriages in the early registration years: * TRUNDLEY, Charles - 1839 - Huntingdon, BOWERS * TRUNDLEY, Mary - 1842 - Cambridge, LEVETT * TRUNDLEY, Eliza - 1844 - Cambridge, SWANN * TRUNDLER, Sarah - 1845 - Cambridge, NORTHROP * TRUNDLEY, James - 1845 - Cambridge, COULSON * TRUNDLER, Ann - 1847 - Cambridge, PAYTON * TRUNDLEY, Sarah P - 1848 - Cambridge, JOHNSON * TRUNDLEY, Saville - 1851 - Cambridge, MIDDLETON, PARISH * TRUNDLEY, William - 1851 - Fenland, MILES * TRUNDLEY, Rebecca - 1853 - Huntingdon, WATSON and there are a handful/couple of TRUNDLEY IGI (submission) marriages - I think the one I checked back looked well-founded. Since I can't find a Thomas Trundler or thomas Browning birth reg for 1838, I reckon the Trundley you unearthed must be this chap. You'd think someone called Anty or Ant**** Trundler/ley would be easy to find, eh!

Christine Thanks for confirming my suspicions re 2 Thomases. Gosh, either you can't find anyone or you can find two possibles! Off now to trundle through your Trundley postings! nell

I reckon the enumerators were very inconsiderate, too! The surname which starts TRUNDLE... seems to end with R or Y in different places - hence my picking up some of that CamDex stuff in both names/versions (see this post - 04/08/2006 14:03:55). I'm inclined to suspect that Thomas, labourer, is different from Thomas, shoe/bootmaker, because of the different skill levels involved - unless he was leading a double life, of course! The ag lab also appears to have been born quite a bit earlier - not an absolute impediment, by any means, but discouraging in the identification stakes. Christine

Christine Don't know who she is, but Browning is a commonish name. Will note details against future research. Thanks. I've just re-read your previous posting abt 1841 and now I am very puzzled. I'd forgotten about the Trundlers. What I have is 1841 - possibly Blucher [?] Row, St Andrew the Less Cambridgeshire [all born in county] William Flack 25 abt 1816 labourer Matilda Flack 23 abt 1818 Henry Palmer 2 abt 1839 Thomas Broain 30 [image looks like Brirarin] abt 1811 shoem. Anty Trundler 20 abt 1821 Thomas Trundler 2 abt 1839 Bearing in mind that Anturante etc gives Swavesey as birthplace in later censuses, I also have a James Trundler b Swavesey on 1881 census, possible connection. BUT regarding Thomas Trundler age 2 I also have 1841 Market Street, Ely Trinity Cambridgeshire - all born in county Thomas Browning 35 abt 1806 ag lab Mary Browning 30 abt 1811 Sarah Browning 11 abt 1830 Elizabeth Browning 8 abt 1833 Margaret Browning 6 abt 1835 Thomas Browning 4 abt 1837 Now this Thomas has a son the same kind of age, but as I have found a Thomas Browning b. around the same time as a labourer on later censuses, and the Thomas Br whatever on 1841 with Anty is a shoemaker, which fits in with his later censuses, I think you are right, and he and Anty had Thomas Tranter then married and then Thomas became Thomas Browning. So the Mary marriage isn't anything to do with it. Your thoughts would be appreciated! nell ps why couldn't these enumerators write in block capitals in black ink?!
