*** F.A.O. ***…….. Elaine. The where abouts of the Marriage of Florence Kate 1891 ? Ummm ? Nothing showed up using my resources to hand. But thinking aloud here……. I see they are newly wed on the 1891.Census. Your Free BMD Ref = March Qrt. 1891. My G.R.O. BMD = Jan. Feb. Mar. Qrt 1891. Both do have the same Ref No. 7a 337. though. Therefore Common denominator is MARCH. then.? The address on that Census return puts them in the Fast growing St. Matthews Estate. Churches within that Estate..... Were St. Matthew’s, St. Luke’s, Christ Church. ( All theses were part of St. Margaret’s Parish Hence Bishop Fees was in the title on the Censuses . ) and the Nonconformist St. George's Chapel. So maybe Thomas & Florence married in one of these? I can but have a look at these for you next time I’m at Records Office. ( Thursday ) Or they could have had a Civil Service Marriage ? in which case No records will be available at the Records Office. Yes……. Pass the other details for that Marriage conducted under Licence. (A year would be very helpful. ). I might be able find them using the Licence Index Cards…… That will at lest give us the Church. Hi Mike, Would you have anything on the Gough family, my great grandfather John Gough,born 1839 in Leicester. He married a Sarah Ann Underwood in Melton Mowbray in 1859. In 1881 hes in Derby, with the occupation as a tailor and mission preacher. If possible i would like to know who his siblings and parents were? Thank you Sylvia

Thank you so much for all that information Mike, yes i do have 1881, but being in Oz and not having Ancestry, that is such a great help. I have found John jr in1941 birth, he was born in 1839, so age would be about right for him. In 1851 can you tell me what Emp 1 Man stands for, see below. John Parrs. Head Mar. 31. Master Tailor. Hi Mike Ah but not got anything about a marriage licence yet so excited anyway, always hopeful. Tracked a few of my Wards since you helped with the baptisms of Jonas's children. Still tracking fishmongers between Newark and Leicester! One daughter marries a Wand which I first thought said Ward and found their marriage in a parish record -my first poper find myself - I love it Elaine Hopwell isn't one of mine

HI Leicestershire people! I am struggling with a Maria Holyland who in Nov 1841 married in Cadeby. She was born c1816 and father was Thomas a labourer. A Phillis Holyland witnessed the wedding. I am trying to link her to the Holyland family of Market Bosworth where a Phillis lived in 1841 with father Thomas. Maria was working elsewhere in 1841 census. Also does anyone have burial records of Sheepy Magna/Parva for the Brookes family. Any help much appreciated. Jan mainly Somerset

To the man that knows, Uncle Mike, ( or anyone else that might know, lol) is there a trade directory for the 1950's?? i am trying to find the licensees of the Bricklayers Arms on Welford Rd, thanks to my dad who JUST thought to tell me he had an Aunt Daisy who ran this pub in the 50's / 60's.......... haven't got a clue on her surname ( married or maiden!) or how on earth she fits in to our family. not holding out much hope on this one, i can tell you. The years you want are 1950 ~ 60 's ....( Right ? ) Let me have a look at the Records Office to see what I can find for you. I know three doors down ( 84 ) Mr Woodward ran the Greengrocers Shop back in the 60's who I worked with.....but that ain't no use to you ...lol :0))) MIKE. xx

Mike The only time I ever heard a Somerset accent like that was from a Wiltshire boy who had had too much scrumpy!! Great l/ups - Sheepy Thomas is Maria Holyland's husband and those Mkt Bosworth are likely to be Maria's parents. Many thanks! Elaine - not tried that site - will do it now.
