I wasn't getting at anyone in particular, just thought I would nudge it as I have noticed quite a few tonight where people have gone to a lot of work and in some cases used credits . Marion

Marion, I did send a pm to the man who had not checked his two threads. Got a message back stating that he did not know what a thread was and he was computer illiterate LOL He has been a member of this site for 3 years and has 200 names in his tree so really could not accept his explanation. Sally Report 12 Sep 2006 19:24

Just want to say, that i was one of those people that after a while never checked my thread. Was shocked to see that someone had done some research for me and i never knew. I felt awful. I did email them and apologise, because i am really thankful for what people do. they spend alot of time on looking up information, so i dont blame them for getting angry when they get no thanks. I now always check. Sally

Rose, Yes I have sometimes flagged duplicate threads. Usually what happens is one gets deleted and all the information that was posted gets lost. Must get off my soap box !!! LOL Maureen

Do what I do. If I see a duplicate post I flag it as such. I also PM people if there's no response after a few days. Rose

Also two threads on the same day asking for the same information really gets me annoyed. Members just spot the latest one and then post the same info that was on the earlier thread. Just wondering why I bother doing lookups. Maureen

I agree. Advice for newbies: Remember not all information is instantly available. I sometimes need to check out something with another researcher or the local library so it is worth looking at 'Your threads' a couple of days later to see if more has been added and do thank people who have helped.

Hi Maureen I know it happens a lot, it was seeing yours that got me going lol Marion

Marion, Well said. Unfortunately too many people post a thread and completely disappear - no feedback - nothing !!! Perhaps they have copied the information from their thread and wonder why they should bother acknowledging the help they had received. Maureen (A member who gets caught too often by these people)
