Hi Glen This is the FreeCen thread, not FreeReg. BUT When I'm transcribing for FreeCen, I flick between the two windows by using Alt and Tab. There is also a way of doing a split screen. If you look for a thread on this board called FreeCen I need help #2. Glitter Baby Maureen explains how to do it I think. *UPDATE* Just type Freecen into the search box or the thread doesn't come up Jeanette x |

Glen In Tinsel Knickers | Report | 20 Nov 2006 10:32 |
I sent my initial enquiry yesterday lunchtime, and had the first lot to transcribe arrive at teatime. I have had a one line example and a PDF document sent.150+ pages with approx 6000 marriages to transcribe from early 1500's to 1837 covering six villages. I have never opened Excel on the pc before (assume it is still on the pc). Is there an easy way to have the details from the PDF document in front of me whilst Excel is open (if i can work out how to use the flipping thing). Short of continually minimizing and restoring is there a way? Need a bit of advice on this peeps. Glen |

Hi Jeanette, I live in Australia and would love to help. If possible Coventry or Foleshill, Warwickshire would be my choice, if not available, Norton Canes, Little Wyrley, Cannock areas of Staffordshire. Regards, Kaye |

Hi Ros When I first started transcribing, East Yorkshire wasn't available so I did the Kirkburton area. That was also full of people working in the woollen trade. Now I'm doing a few pieces for Hull and the occupations are very varied. I suppose that has quite a bit to do with it being a port |

It is easy once you get going and interesting reading the census as it gives you a picture of the area and the different occupations although most of the people in the one I`m doing -Horsforth -seemed to work in the woollen trade-weavers , burlers etc, Ros |
