Well i would and wouldnt have. Since i live in Edinburgh (most of the time Stirling during term time). It only costs me a bus ride up the town. For one whole days searching its £17 which gives me access to all the OPR (old parish registers) from 1580 to 1854 and all the statutory stuff from 1855 to the present date. Plus census's. Sometimes i find going once a month or so to the records office rather than spending £6 on scotlandspeople each week. The only thing is that you have to pay extra (50p) for a print out. If you want all your ancestors siblings dates and things its good. As for James Clarks death, if he stayed down in England then looking through the indexs might help they will give ages which should help you narrow things down. If he returned to Scotland i can have a look when i'm at the reocrds office again next monday (not this monday coming but the one after). Mhairi |

Mhaira, Tell me, if you were to go up to Scotland like you did the other day - would you have found more than you have on James Clark? Or the same? I just don't get why people travel distances to get the info if it's on the web? Annie |

I think so but its just a bit more fancy. I have the 1871 census return for them if you want to send me your email address, saves you spending the credits on it. I have to tell you though that...Thomas...was from...Ireland which will cause you even more confusion i can promise you. Mhairi |

I think your on the wrong bit on Scotlandspeople Annie, with the credits you should be able to view the births after 1855 to 1905. I've just got up Bernard Carks death cert which shows his father as a FRENCH POLISHER! so looks like we have the right family! Mhairi (who's still here :) ) |

ok IGI question first on the main page, go to the top and click on 'search' (between home and share) Now on the left hand side click International Genealogical Index Put in the name/s and click Brittish Islands as the Region and Scotland as the country I'll have a wee look on Scotlands people to see if i can make anything more solid Mhairi |
