Greeting’s Again Sarah….. Anyone can be a Witness to a Marriage……. Possible Reasons :~ May be the parents were diseased. Parents did not approve of the Marriage. The Parish Clark’s seemed to like to sign as Witnesses I have seen loads. ….. Some people made a living from being Professional Witnesses. May be the Marriage was performed by Licence. ? Due to they wanted to marry quickly So Parents or Relatives could not make it ? Or I could see that the Rector / Vicar of Hungarton at one time was a Thomas CLARK So maybe a relative ? So did they sign the Register that they were Church Warden / Parish Clark then ? MIKE. |

Morning Mike Have you anything on disc for Charles Henry Ward died 5 May 1858 19 Curzon Street Guessing St Georges as ever, father James Ward but registered by a Catherine Hart and same address given. He was aged 1, I thought it might be James brother and ordered the cert. There is a son Charles Henry of James that goes to Scarborough with them (born in Newark as they leave Leicester) and this James on the cert is a master fishmonger. Am sure he must be mine, too much of a coincidence Elaine |

Greeting’s Again ……..Clare § I would not dispel that certificate for now……… I’ve looked at the Batch No’s again for Deacon Baptisms in Swepstone. There is a Mary Deacon 4th.Jan.1789. With Parents :~ John & Eliz Deacon. Which would make Mary aprox 28 at the birth of Eleanor 1817.? Could this Mary be the Mother your Eleanor born out of wedlock Eleanor could well have been bought up by John & Eliz So… Eleanor would not know the truth & so put John as Father on Marriage Register ?
