BAPTISMS With Parents Thomas & Mary Cooper.. Ruth. 12th. July. 1812…Burial ? 28th. Sept. 1815. Aged 3. Ruth. 16th. April. 1816. And again. Ruth. 16th. Feb. 1817. Now this double Baptism is NOT rare……. 1st one could have been a Private Baptism because the Child was not expected to live. Second Baptism was for when the child was well enough & was excepted into the Church. And again Ann Cooper. Baptised 23rd. Oct.1817. Parents Thomas & Mary.. Ann Cooper Baptised 23rd. Nov. 1817. Parents Ditto. BURIALS for Burton Lazars. Names / Dates / Ages. COOPER Alice. 6 Dec. 1805 No age given. COOPER Ruth 28 Sep 1815 3 COOPER Thomas 16 Feb 1848 84 COOPER Ruth 20 May 1853 36 COOPER Mary 8 Feb 1860 78 The Thomas Burial could be Thomas’s Father ? Second Ruth matches her age from the 1851. Hi Clare, I have been following your Deacon thread with interest. I have hundreds of Deacons in my tree, mainly from Fleckney, however one of them, George Deacon, was born in Birmingham in 1864. George's parents were born in Fleckney and returned to Leicester after their 2nd child, Charles was born in Birmingham. The next point of interest is that George Deacon also returned to Leicestershire and all of his children were born in Ibstock. Whilst all of this may be coincidence there could be a link. Paul

Hi again Mike Thank you so much for the information, i had found those baptisms, but wasnt sure because it was Mary on the census and now i have some birthdates too. I have looked on both IGI and Hugh Wallis for Thomas`s marriages, but cant find either of them. Have looked under Leicester, Melton Mowbray and Burton Lazars, as thats where the families lived at one stage or another. Would you mind looking for Thomas Coopers marriage to Alice ?, Their oldest child was born 1789, so i think some where around there. The burial you found for Thomas, would be for him not his father, i worked out if i have the right birthdate for him from the census (haha) he would be 82 in 1848 and ofcourse they did that rounding thingy in 1841. Hi Paul, My Ellen Deacon was born abt 1817, in Leicestershire and somehow ended up in Brimingham area when she married George Reay in 1844. I haven't so far been able to find her on 1841 census. Have searched Swepstone enumeration district page by page and only came up with one Deacon - Ann, age 30 (abt 1811), female servant, born Leics - maybe she is one of yours ? Have done rough search in Birmingham in case she was there in 1841 but haven't come up with anything - have tried Ellen, Elenor, Elinor, Ellenor, Deacon, Deakin and even Varnham and Varnam on the offchance, There may be a connection but it seems unlikely we will find one especially as yours seem to be in Birmingham 20 years later by which time George and Ellen had moved to Walsall area (there by 1851) Cheers Clare

Hi Mike My Uncle (Wilfred John Rowbotham) of Cardinal Street had some sort of hideous accident on the railway during the war. It depends who you speak to which limbs he lost, but he survived until 1960 with the ones he had left. He worked at the Midland Station, but again, what he did depends on who you speak to! I presume this would have made the papers, although my mother never put it in her scrapbook. I presume the papers for this period will be at Wigston. Is there any sort of index or would it be a matter of ploughing through? Also, we are returning from exile again on Saturday for the Tigers -Scarlets game at the Walkers Stadium. Can anyone suggest a reasonable place to have lunch. I've asked on the Tigers forum but all they can come up with is a pub called The Local Hero, which by the sound of it will be full of rugger b*ggers. Thanks Sheila

Goes in year order which is broken down into Either Months or Quarters But which ever way YES you have to trawl through page by page. TIP OF THE DAY here……. Choose the Film viewer opposite Fiche reader No. 15 Near to the entrance door and not the over head viewers This viewer has a print function. Otherwise if you are using the overhead viewers you’ll have to rewind and then trawl through film again using the print machine. 50p.per print using token obtainable from reception desk. LUNCH. Depends where you are intending to park ? Several eating places within walking distance of the Stadium. Ranging from :- Type “ Walkers Stadium” into goggle for their web site. Fish & Chip shop ( Walnut Street.) The Turn stile Pub ( Walnut Street ) Quay side Pub ( Bede Island Western Boulevard ) Bistro's & Bars ( Braunstone Gate ) Local Hero ( Freeman’s Common Park ) Not over impressed with the catering last time I was there. Plus you might not be able to park here on Match day They are bit strict on this ( Car Clampling in operation ) Town Centre. Belvoir Street.:~ Several trendy eating places. Grand Hotel ( 5 Star venue ) Granby Street. Town Centre aprox 1 ½ miles from Stadium. Come on the..... ' TIGERS ' One down two to go for the triple. Have a good day…… MIKE.

In the following Parishes :~ BURTON LAZARS. 1754. through to 1796.where they STOP. Note on Index states :~ Several Parish records on fiches went missing in 2000.....Grrr MELTON MOWBRAY. Banns Registers :~ 1786. ~ 1812. Marriages Registers :~ 1784. ~ 1812. But………. Sorry drew a blank. ….. Did have a look at early Marriages 1754. ~ 1800. City of Leicester……. via my disks But again drew a blank….Sorry. MIKE.

Can anyone help me find the bmd code for Rachel Heward b 1/8/1855 Belgrave c 22/5/1856 Belgrave. Thank you in advance tried freebmd no luck not complete dates taken from IGI list. Found her in the 1861 Census living at Bath St Leicester, which is in Belgrave. She might have not been registered, need to go to Wigston and find her on the baptism chart and maybe their BMD pages.

Thank you for your kind offer Mike, but have been looking on Hugh Wallis today and found baptisms for children in Humberstone with parents Thomas and Alice Cooper, mine were from Burton Lazars. After yesterdays excitment, i feel a little deflated. Ah well, back to the drawing board. Sylvia

Hi Christopher, I haved checked the BMD on Ancestry and there is no birth registration for a Rachel Heward in any quarter of 1855 or 1856. Each quarter only has about half a dozen Hewards with only a very few for Leicestershire, mostly Ashby de la Zouch district and one for Loughborough district. Paul
