I doubt if the BAPTISM entry in the Parish Registers ( Birth Certificates do not come in till 1837. ) Will give you that sort of information To link the Father John to his birth place…. The register will read along these lines :~ BAPTISMS ANN’O DOM’INI :~ 1788. Thomas Son of John & Elizabeth Clark…….Baptised ……11th May. No other details will be given …. Not enough to prove out right that it's the same John. Sorry……. MIKE. |

Ah yes Mike, so if we follow your hypothesis, like Tasmania , we are all the result of generations of inbreeding? Or like Moe Victoria where DNA evidence is useless to Police investigations as everyone has the same DNA! Oh well - persevere my son, and dont get bushed or brushed as the case may be! Regards the Hon M J W, GG, MT MT |

Hi Gemma Do you have his Baptism? just wondered what info you have to give his birthplace, it might help us find more. The only George I found 1841 name parents as Richard and Charlotte, this George is registered in the IGI but born Sheepy Magna, Leicester Elaine |

Hi Elaine I have got his place of birth off of the 1871 census. I also found it on some of the other census'. He married a lady named Elizabeth Winfield in Nottingham on 1 March 1848. I got this info from their marriage certificate. The certificate said his father was also called George. I know they had the following children: George Charles Emma John Sarah. I do not have a baptism record for him??? |

I am looking for the parents of George Adams who is thought to have been born in Mountsorrel in 1857. George married Alice Osborne in 1880 when he was 23 years old. There is not a father's name on the marriage certificate. I have census records of George and Alice and children but nothing about him before his marriage. I would be grateful for any help to enable me to research further back with the Adams family. There is a connection with the Baum family but I have yet to find it. It has also been suggested he may have been born a Dilkes and adopted. There was another George Adams born in Leicester around the same time but not the one I am looking for. Thank you, Gill |

Hi Sarah You cannot view the certificate, you will have to buy it. You may be able to pinpoint his death and even if you guess at the right parish, you will only find burial details. A death certificate will give you much more plus you need to prove the line in case you start chasing the wrong people. Sometimes it will give the place and date of birth and maiden name if female of the deceased on the death cert .... Elaine |

Greeting’s & Welcome Gemma……. 1st may I apologise for my delay in answering you…… I have been busy doing loads of look up's on another site. Plus Scouts & Church Duties in the last few weeks. Like Elaine….. I’m struggling with this one. Nothing is coming up...... Although it states George's place of birth as Loughborough on the 1871 Census reruns RG 10. / 3518 / 89 / Page 43. I'm coming to believe he may not have been born in the Town of Loughborough itself but in a small village close to Loughborough which came under Loughborough. ? some of these small villages to the North come both within Leicestershire & Nottinghamshire So it can become a very grey area for research. At the moment I’m trawling the 1841 Census for Loughborough page by page To see if I can spot George. I’ll also have a look at the Parish Baptisms for Loughborough when I’m at the Records Office this week …….. MIKE. |

Hi Mike I plan to visit Welford Road cemetry when I am in Leicester in late September. Can you please tell me if there is an office on site where I can get assistance to locate my Timson family graves? Is the cemetry 'open all hours' or only at certain times? Is there anything that I should do before hand that will maximise the use of my limited time (about 4 hours!), I have a list of the names and dates of birth and death where known. Regards Ken |
