Taking cub son to visit Jamboree Tuesday - thought going to stay, leaving cub son at home, might be more than non-scouting hubby would put up with after absence from home last year for Leicestershire's 'little' camp!! Being run by the City District………( Everyone welcomed ) It’s hoped that we will go live via Satellite link to WWW. If you fancy sleeping over with a Camp Fire programme in the Evening then The site will be open Tuesday. According to the latest info the ground at the Jamboree is ROCK HARD. But pack your Welles just in case !!!!! Allow yourself plenty of time if going via Car. One way system in operation to & from the site. Hi Mike, can I pick your brains, please? I'm investigating the children of Joseph Pool and Hannah Knight, who were married at St. Margaret's in 1823 and lived in Burgess Street, in the All Saints district of Leicester. The children who appear on the censuses are Rebecca (1823), Anne (1838), William (1841) and James (1843). I have William's birth certificate (he was my great-grandfather). As there's a very long gap between Rebecca's birth and Anne's, I decided to check the IGI to see if there were any more children, and I found an extracted entry for Thomas Poole, female (?), parents Joseph Poole and Ann Night, born 21/12/1834 and christened 5/1/1835 at George Street Primitive Methodist Church, Leicester. He doesn't appear on any census, but the NBI has a burial on 11/9/1837 for Thomas Poole, infant, All Saints, Leicester. As Ann Night is so similar to Hannah Knight, I'm inclined to think this Thomas is one of mine. Do you happen to know where the George Street Primitive Methodist Church registers would be? Not sure if the 'All Saints' in the NBI is the district or the church; it seems odd that he'd be christened in the Methodist church and buried in the C of E. Do you have any burials for that date and place?

FAO of Wendy Taylor: re Taylors in Stoney Stanton My husband's ancestors include one Caroline TAYLOR, b. 1844, daughter of John Taylor (b. abt 1800, Dunton Bassett) and Ann Osborn (b abt 1806, Buckby, Northampton). Some of the names on Mike's list could refer to members of this family. Do get in touch if you think there might be a connection. Jan

Mike, Thanks for info about John Lee's sunrise - our village is having own smaller version. Don't expect to be back from Jambo until pretty late on Tuesday. Boots already in car!! Thanks for travel link, staying overnight Monday in North Weald so as to get to bus at airfield in good time Tuesday. Made it To St Margaret's church last week (where two of my Butlers were married in 1800's), and have found info about Open Day at All Saints (August 25th) which is the parish where Thomas Edward (The Chemist) Butler was born. Lilian Tansey died 1915 aged 3 Florence Tansey died 1915 aged 0 Both lived in the St Matthews area of Leicester William Lewis died 1913 aged 0 Ellen Lewis died 1914 aged 0 Both lived within the parish of Holy Trinity, but they don't perform burials there to my knowledge. Yes it was St. Nicolas Parish Church for a burial of a Thomas See Index from my disk :~ St. Nicolas Parish Church Leicester. POOLE THOMAS 11 SEP 1837 INF Now...... I don’t wish to dash your hopes But I would have thought the age would have been Aged.3. and not “ INF.” = Infant. The term “ Infant” usually relates to a child having NOT reached their 1st. birthday.0 ~1. George Street Primitive Methodist records COULD be at the Records Office ? I could check this out next time I’m there. Also I can have a look at that burial from St. Nicolas Parish Registers It MIGHT just give parents names. And an address. But usually reads thus :~ 1837. Entry No. XXX Thomas Pole. Infant…..Buried Sept. 11th…….Name of Officiating Minster. MIKE.xx

Hi Mike This may sound a silly question but it's only easy if you know, on the death certificate of my grandmother It says her address was 28 Marriott road Leicester U.D. what do's U.D stand for. thanks Paul

Greeting's & Welcome Scoucer O' Leicester.... Just to confirm your inquiry :~ U.D. = Urban District. Which meant that the ' Borough of Leicester' was not responsible for any of the Services Gas Electricity, Water. &. Sanitary Waste disposable . Plus they paid a different rate of Tax for these Services & not Borough rates of Tax's. ...... Marriott Road ...would come under Wigston I think being on the ' Saff ' But today now is back with the City MIKE.

Thanks very much for checking Thomas Poole, Mike. If you have time to have a look at the Record Office, that'd be great. If Thomas does belong to my Joseph and Hannah Pool I assume he died before 1841, because there's no sign of him on the censuses. If the burial isn't the one at St. Nicholas, could it have been recorded by the Methodist Church? All the other members of the Pool family whose burials I've found so far (Joseph, Hannah and Rebecca) are at Welford Road Cemetery.
