Genealogy Chat

I seem to have inherited a couple of things from my Mum's mum's mum. I'm 5 ft 11 & she towers over evryone in photos. Also, like me, she gave birth to non-identical twins, and like mine, one was big-built with blonde hair & blue eyes & the other was slightly built with dark hair & brown eyes. Also like me, and I didn't find this out till after the christening, she called one of her twins David. I'd love to know where the twin gene comes from. So far I haven't found any further back. I know it only runs through the female line.

My daughter was sent a photo of her 2 x Gt Grandparents and their children taken c.1901, from a relative found on here. Not only did we discover that the family were living in the same cottage that my husband grew up in, owned by the Duchy of Cornwall..... but one of the children was the spitting image of my husband when he was in his teens and 3 others were the spitting image of his couins! Spooky or what?

I HAVE THE SHORT HEIGHT OF MY PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS(5ft2ins) BUT GOD KNOWS WHERE MY FEET COME FROM --SIZE 7. SHORT SIGHTEDNESS -- BOTH SIDES OF THE FAMILY A DIMPLED CHIN FROM DADS SIDE. FAILED MARRIAGES-- MAMS SIDE I WORKED WITH THE ELDERLY, MAM WAS A NURSE AND NANA A HOMEHELP. WE ALL SUFFER BAD BACKS. TRAVEL SICKNESS FROM MAM, TWO OF MY CHILDREN ALSO SUFFER. MY BIRTHDAY SAME DAY AS NANA. I ONLY HOPE I DONT INHERIT THE TURKEY NECK AND VARICOSE VEINS MAM AND NANA HAVE.

Very dark eyes from my maternal grandmothers family. Fair hair and fair skin from my fathers family. Only 5ft tall like my mother and her mother. Laugh like my mother and her brother. Love of shoes, like my mother. Love of good food like my father's family. Not liking cut flowers in the house,( like to see them growing), from my maternal great grandfather. Not liking the taste of alcohol, like my mother and her mother, sooner have a nice cup of tea(tea leaves not tea bags). Have nothing against alcohol, just dont like it.

During my teens (that horible time in life when nothing is fair!) I felt like a cuckoo but i only had to look at my thumbs to realise that i was my father's daughter - think chicken drumstick and that gives you an idea! i have my maternal grandmothers build - think outhouse - but not her height she was 6ft in stockinged feet as was her mother who was a willow - I'm 5ft 7' and although it sounds tall truly it isn't - i was 'expected to make at least 5' 10'! - the shortness must come from my father - thanks Pa! The men in the family are very musical and perhaps this comes down the generations as grandfather ancester from the late 1600s early 1700s was organist at the Chapel Royal Windsor, as was his son, and he was a friend and contemporary of Henry Purcell and Jeremiah Clarke. personally I'm tone deaf and have never been able to conqueror any type of intrustment.
