I don't know if he'll show up or not, Linda, but I'm looking for a John Worsley born in Lowton near Warrington in 1850. In 1881 and 1901 he is not on the census and he was dead by 1903. He gave his occupation on his marriage certificate in 1890 as 'marine engineer merchant service'. Some of his family went to Canada between the late 19th century and c.1930s - his brothers and father were cotton merchants and agents. He had a wife called Ada nee Willday and one daughter Alice Ada May - they lived at 44 Rimrose Road in Bootle in 1901 but John was not there. I would be really grateful if you could find anything. |

Linda, Could you see if you can find a Thomas SANDY (b1864, Norfolk); Nelson Victor SANDY (b1887, Norfolk) or an Ernest SANDY (b abt 1891, Norfolk). All three ended up in Canada - the latter two as part of the British Home Children scheme. In fact, Linda, I'd be interested in any SANDYs you find ... they're not a big surname group, so I'll be surprised if you find any at all. Thanks for offering to do this! Regs Annie |

Thank you very much for this offer Linda. I'd be grateful if you could look for Joseph Walter Taylor, born 10/12/1884 in Camberwell. He went to Canada between 1911 and 1918 (possibly 1913) and subsequently vanished. I'm afraid I have no idea where he left from but he was living in London beforehand. Regards, Anne |

Linda, Very many thanks for finding Nelson - I had no idea it was as 'late' as 1908 that he went! I'll ponder on any other SANDYs who might have headed that way and get back to you. Can't believe there were 67 of them, that's quite a chunk out of the SANDY clans around the UK. Most grateful for your help. Regs Annie |
