Henry and Maria Grigg (witnesses) were Susanna’s relations, so no help there |

Elijah was not living with anyone else named Humphries in 1841, so, unless he moved back ‘home’ before marrying, the address won’t help. |

Unfortunately those details don’t give an address which may well prove helpful. |

What you need is sight of the actual parish register ( not always available online) OR you need to purchase the marriage certificate from the GRO. |

Well, here is an update. Sadly, the death record did not provide any useful data. I went to the freereg.org website and got to a listing of the number of Humphries births, marriages and burials for Dudley but when I clicked on the marriages hyperlink it just went back to the same page rather than taking me to the actual marriage records. I must be doing something wrong but I have no idea what. Anyway, I have also written St. Thomas & St. Luke Parish in Dudley to see if they can confirm the parents names. On the positive side, I am aware that Susannah's father was Isaac so I'm hoping the information above proves to be correct. |

Thanks everyone. I am not convinced Elijah's father's name in trees is correct as none show sourcing. Unfortunately, I did pay the £12 because I didn't understand how the credits worked. Live and learn. |

Apply to the GRO for a copy of the marriage cert. It will cost £11.00 and, if he knew his father, the name and occupation will be on the certificate. His mother will not be named |

Ancestry trees have him born 1821 in Bilston, Staffordshire to James and Mary Humphries but don't take that as gospel !! Info on the trees before then is non existent. |

The record is for my 2nd Great Grandparents, Elijah Humphries and Susanna Franks who were married in Dudley, Worcester in 20 Sep 1846. I found the reference via Ancestry. I am hoping the actual record will identify Elijah's parents. I have applied for Elijah's death record through Scotland's People hoping it might contain the information I am looking for. |

If you have found the reference for the marriage, such as you would on freebmd, then the way to get a copy of the certificate is through the GRO ( for England & Wales). Prior to late 1837 there is only the Parish Register entry, which also can also be available for some later marriages. Older marriages may only appear as a list on Bishops Transcripts. |
