Hello. I'd like to order a BC for someone born in Dublin South. I have the volume and page number. I've just been on the GRONI website, it asks for a lot of details especially the mothers or fathers name which I don't have. Does anyone have any ideas please if there is some other way I can order the Certificate?

Depending on when the birth was, you may be able to view and print the cert from that site, which is free to use.

Hello, I've just gone onto the site that ErikaH suggested and this is asking for the parents or at least the mother's name. The Ancestor I'm seeking the BC for was born in Quarter 3 in 1925.

Strict regulations regarding 100-year disclosure..

Contact irishgenealogy.ie as I suggested, ( mentioned by Erika earlier)bearing in mind what Erika said about the 100 year rule.

If you knew the parents' names, you would be able to order the cert online here:

https://www2.hse.ie/services/births-deaths-and-marriages/order/birth-certificate/

However, that site also has a "Complaints/feedback" page;
https://www2.hse.ie/complaints-feedback/

Even though your query isn't either a complaint or a feedback, you could ask your question.
With the 100 year rule, you might have to wait until 2025 or 2026 to apply for the cert.
Of course, you still wouldn't know the parents' names - but no harm in asking them if there's any way to obtain the cert.

I've just noticed that site says,

"Certificates are available for births registered in the:

Republic of Ireland from 1 January 1864 to present"

So apart from the parent's names problem, it seems you should be able to get one.

Hiya, I've sent an application form off now with as much detail as I can albeit not the parents details. I've explained all in the email attaching the form and will wait to see what happens.

Kathryn, Do you have an idea who the parents maybe? Only marriages in Dublin South from 1911-1925 are for Clarence Bryant a soldier and Bridget Carroll in 1916 and William Barrett and Elizabeth Killeen in 1914.

Hello all. Thank you again for all your time and input. I believe my grandfather George Richard Bryant was the father following a liaison with a young lady but have no idea who she is. I know it's a long shot but was hoping that the birth cert would at least reveal who his mother was. My grandfather would have still been married at that time. So if this is definitely the case re my grandfather then this George Alexander Bryant would be a half brother to my father George Ernest Bryant. I've not heard anything as yet apart from them acknowledging the application form and more details that I gave them in my accompanying email.

I’m confused, why would knowing the mother of George Richard Bryant help you find the mother of his child?

Surely it would be unusual for the illegitimate child to have the Bryant surname, unless there was a later marriage. Which would mean you would know her name :-S

Sorry, I know who the mother is of my grandfather. It's the mother of George Alexander Bryant that I wish to find out and I believe that my grandfather George Richard Bryant is his father. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear in my previous post.
