I like the medical report - "This mans disability has arisen in the Service and is solely attributable to Constitutional infirmity or predisposition, not aggravated by intemperance or vice"

Surname record as ConnorS makes all the difference in finding the Service record.

I agree with Greyghost. Even without reading the posts my immediate thought was Army followed by Navy.
The Army had garrisons on the Channel Islands for years.

1861 England, Wales & Scotland Census
Cottage, 11, Columbus Street, St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands

First name(s) Last name Relationship Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
Bernard Connor Head Married Male 40 1821 Dressmaker Gibraltar
Mary Ann Connor Wife Married Female 39 1822 - England
Henry George Connor Son Unmarried Male 15 1846 - St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands
William Patrick Connor Son Unmarried Male 4 1857 - St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands
Patrick S Connor Son Unmarried Male 1 1860 - St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands

Bernard is NOT a Dressmaker !! Not sure what it actually says - I lean to Drummer!

His place of birth says Gibraltar - British subject - so I'd go with the Army connection or possibly Navy for his Father.

A tree on Ancestry has this record::

UK, Naval and Military Courts Martial Registers, 1806-1930
Name Peter Connor
Court or Trial Date 26 Oct 1871
Court or Trial Place Gibraltar
Regiment 13 Foot

However, that must be a different Peter Connor.
Bernard would have been 50 by then, and it's not likely that his father would still have been in the army, possibly aged about 70.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that anyone with knowledge of this particular family's history will see your post.

Have you tried searching for particular family members in "Search all member trees" (under "Search" at top right of this page)?
If you find any of them in anyone's tree, send a message to the tree "owner" - but don't expect quick replies. It can take a while (months - or sometimes even longer.)
