A lot will depend on what period you are looking at.
Different countries have different rules.

Birth of a living person who was born 100 years ago or more
Birth of a deceased person who died 50 years ago or more or who was born 80 years ago or more
A Stillbirth that occurred 50 years ago or more
Marriages that occurred 75 years ago or more
Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago, or the deceased's date of birth was at least 80 years ago

You can then order a certificate if needed but it is pricey,

Birth printout from 1 Jan 1875 25.00

Hi, does anybody know what the best search site is for New Zealand. I am subscribed to Findmypast basic and know I can update my subscription, but will that get me any more information than I can at present.

I know for deaths the higher subscription is needed, but its Births and Marriages I need to look at.

Do any of you know of a site that would give as much information as I can get for Gt Britain with FMP.

Any advice as how to access all the BMD records for NZ and Australia.

Are myHeritage or Ancestry any better or any of the other genealogy sites.
