Use freebmd and put in the two surnames and the year they married as a starter

Depending on grandfathers age wouid he have been on any census with his wife ?

Where in the world would this be?

Freebmd only covers England and Wales. If they were born elsewhere you will need to use other resources.

I think Nottinghamshire - if this is related to a previous thread in which Linda asks about her mother 's side of the family.

Her maternal grandfather is not named in that thread. Her maternal grandmother was born in November 1901 .

But I don't know if Linda is now asking about her maternal or paternal grandfather, and in any case, her maternal grandmother isn't relevant to the present query..

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 27 Aug 2023 12:56

In that case, the advice about looking at freebmd is relevant

Linda

Linda Report 27 Aug 2023 14:55

Thank you My previous thread was about Lily Scott who was my grandfather's 2nd wife but he was married before Clara Lowe who was born in 1897 and died in 1921she married my grandfather in 1917 but was wondering if they had children

Put the two surnames in the correct boxes on freebmd and click 'find'

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

I presume this is their marriage? (you haven't told us the man's name)

Marriages Jun 1917 (>99%)
Lowe Clara Timson Nottingham 7b 522
Timson William H Lowe Nottingham 7b 522

It's very easy to look for births

I know YOU had the details, but we didn't have all of them ;-) ;-)

Linda

Linda Report 27 Aug 2023 15:34

Linda

Linda Report 27 Aug 2023 15:39

You only have to put in the surnames, which you know. Go to freebmd and try it..............

Linda
Freebmd is where most of us look to see if there were any births.

You just need to put your grandfather's surname in the search box, then a couple of spaces under that put just the surname of his wife.

If a lady has previously been married, you need to put her maiden name in that section instead.
Click ...Find

A worthwhile exercise........................gets you used to using the resource, which will come in handy in the future.
