Wonder if anyone knows any Dingwalls in or around Liverpool ? My Grandfather Colin Campbell Dingwall died early in 1943 in Liverpool. He was one of five children and their father came fron Dingwall originally. I have traced two of Colins sibling's family Agnes and John. Thomas died early too but the youngest Alexander Dingwall b. 1895 and had 2 sons Norman and Kenneth. Norman married Margaret Brightman had 2 sons and a daughter I think. Any help out there says Sandra / Germany

If so, it was Alexander who married Margaret - not Norman.

Alexander Kenneth died in 2001……..and does not appear to have married He was at the address at which the family were living in 1939

Norman Alexander probably married Elsie Harman in Liverpool in 1948.

A tree on Ancestry (Harman Family Tree) says that both Norman and Elsie died in Toronto, but doesn't give dates.

In 1979 they're at 39 Vola Court, Hamilton Mountain:

They're listed at various addresses in Hamilton from at least 1940 onwards.
In the earlier years, he's a clerk and book-keeper.

If that's the right couple in Hamilton, they must have been living as husband and wife before marriage, and must have returned temporarily to the UK to marry.

The 1940s entries are for a different man, after all.
In 1945 he's with Mrs Lillian Dingwall and MISS Elsie Dingwall.
In 1940 he's with Mrs Alexander Dingwall and Miss Elsie Dingwall, teacher.
1949, still the wrong man.
1968 - Mr Norman and Miss Elsie Dingwall.

So my apologies - that's not Norman Alexander Dingwall in Hamilton.

Perhaps the Harmon tree owner has also picked up on the wrong man, and assumed he died in Toronto.

Norman is on 1939 Register…DoB 18/04/1922…….open record because DoB is more than 100 years ago
