I am trying to trace what happened to Sarah Meadley born in Liverpool in 1906 to Ann Meadley nee LLoyd and last definitely documented in the 1911 census in a children's home in Wavertree, Liverpool. She is not the Sarah Meadley who later married Leonard Hasel. There are no other marriage or death records in that name so I am wondering if she was sent abroad as part of the child migration scheme. if so can anyone tell me how to access records of these children please.

There's no sign of her having emigrated, at least not with that name.

I don't see a marriage for her parents, on FreeBMD.

Her date of birth was July 1906. Father Thomas Meadley 1867-1946-------mother Ann lloyd 1865-1911. There is a reecord of her parents marriage and the birth of their older daughter Mary Ann in 1902. Where did you find the record of her in Wavertree in 1921 please as I can find no record of her in the 1921 census.

The record of her in Wavertree in 1921 is from the 1921 census.

Note the spelling of her name.

Do you have her FULL date of birth?

It might help to trace her in 1939 or at death.

Have seen all those entries too but like you had no way of knowing if it is my Sarah. Did you see my message asking where you saw a record of her in 1921. Would love to see it if you can find it again.

Ah, I see her parents' marriage, mis-spelled:

I say mis-spelled - but there are several different records of the banns and the marriage, and all spell his name Mealey.

Was that on Find my Past please. I keyed her in as soon as it came out and again today with all surname variations and it just came back no record. Will try again now. If it is her it sounds as if she might still have been in the childrens home in Wavertree as she would still have been 15. I do have her birth certificate filed away but am laid up with a broken leg at the moment so cannot get to it.

FMP is the only site which has the 1921 census.

Thanks so much for all your help. I keyed in 1905 instead of 1906 and it came up. I paid for the full record and it is definitely our Sarah as she is an inmate in the same childrens home. I think very probably all the later ones are her too but I lose her after that as there are no marriage or death records that I can find. You have been a great help as I was upset when I couldnt find her in the 1921 census.

I can't see her in the 1939 Register - though her DOB might have helped.

The second Sarah that AG found, at 24 Dovercliffe Rd, is recorded there on the 1939 register on FMP as

Sarah Mcadley, 9th Aug 1908, single, children's nurse

Living with William Gillies and family.

The first Sarah AG found, last seen at 50, Ashfield, was no longer there on the 1939 register.

Not at the earlier ER addresses AG posted, in the 1939 register either.

Get her birth cert for exact DoB to enable a 1939 search

re the Sarah stated as born 1908, found by Kucinta in 1939 -

don't be put off getting your Sarah's 1906 birth cert by the different year stated.
The 1939 register often has slightly incorrect years of birth.
The day and month are more likely to be correct, so it's worth getting the birth cert in order to know them.
