The father of your half sister and the father of the tree owner may well be siblings. You need to tread very carefully as they may have no knowledge of the birth of your half sister.

Half sister is through our mum. No names were ever mentioned.

Yes the dna match does have a tree on ancestry.

If you Google ‘relationship chart’ you will find various versions which will show how one matches with cousins and other relations.
This will help you work out which generation would be the joint ancestors.

The best bet is to contact the match and ask about family

Do they have a tree on ancestry which is where I presume the dna match is

Plus when you say half sister is this through mum ? Didn’t she give any names ?

I am trying to find my half sisters birth father.

She has a DNA match with somebody that must be from her fathers side of 907cm 13% shared DNA and estimated to be a 1st - 2nd cousin.

How difficult will it be from that match to find her birth father?
