Hi Good People of Genes Reunited
I have been researching my family namesakes Gilshenan and Maddens since the early nineties.
Along the way there have been many brickwalls and roadway discoveries in my research of Michael Gilshenan & Mary Farrell from Mullagh Cavan and James Madden & Mary Coghlane from Gurtavalla Doon Limerick...whose children went to Australia , Canada & the USA.
I have particularly been keen to know their children and who they were and where they went. In some cases the questions have been answered but there are many others to confront. To achieve this and bring Connections together, I have published 2 FREE EBooks - The Gilshenans of Ireland 1750- 1911 and The Maddens of Limerick and Surrounds 1750-1911... a resource and research tool for family researchers that could possibly provide answers not only for me but also for All Gilshenans and Maddens?

Welcome to GR, Terry.

Unfortunately, not many people look at the GR boards nowadays.

However, if any are researching those names, I'm sure your books will be very useful.

You say you have questions still to be answered.
If you like to give us some specific names and dates, bearing in mind the restrictions on posting details of living people, we (the voluntary helpers on the boards) will do our best to help.

Researching:
Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.

If you hope to connect with anyone through GR, your best bet is to look in ‘search all member trees’ and try to contact anyone who has people in their trees whose details match your family

Someone has Michael Gilshenan 1838 and Mary Gilshenan 1862 in a GR tree….so you've a start there. Good luck
