help please with Walter Bennett born 16 Sep 1912
Died 25 Oct 1991 Builder Carpenter

im trying to find his birth record so i can get his birth cert to find out who is parents are
i was told Walter was born in Landen Wales

his marriage cert says his father is also name Walter and he is a master Builder
i no he married twice and i no all his children

i need to no if he was born in England or wales so i can fine his parents

i just can not find a birth to see who parents are

i was told that he may have a sister but old lady of 80 can not remember her name

So looking on freebmd for possible birth reg with no second names

i was told he was from wales and had a welsh accent
so im finding it heard to find birth

I can't find any such place as Landen, Wales.

The nearest possibility I can see is Llandenny, Monmouthshire - could that be it?

No Walter Bennett born there, though. (Monmouth reg district)
Perhaps he wasn't born in Wales, but lived there when growing up.

If his "sister" is 80, she was born c1941.

That seems too long after 1912 for her to be his sister.
I suppose she could be a half-sister or step-sister.

I took it that the lady of 80 couldn't remember the name of Walter's sister ?

I tried looking for the father Walter on 1911, hoping that he might already be married and featured.

Also tried looking for child Walter b. 1912 who might be shown on the pension records of service personnel.

There was a Walter b. Tredegar with birth year of 1912, but wrong birth date.

He may not have been Bennett at birth

Who witnessed his first marriage?


The person aged 80 cannot remember the ‘possible’ sister’s name - she isn’t his sister

I see I have misread about the old lady of 80.
I took it to mean that the sister was an old lady of 80, and that Shelly couldn't remember the name.

No record that I see on any census - or 1939 - for a Walter Bennett who is a Master Builder.

May be the father on the marriage certificate had been 'promoted' in status.
I have an ag. lab, whose son stated he was a farmer.

or may be the father Walter didn't exist anyway ??

The note has been mistranscribed - it's actually "See Sept 1915".

So that's an illegitimate birth in 1912, which wasn't registered until 1915.
