gedcom has wiped out my family tree

You may find it useful to export a Gedcom of your tree when you make major changes, to keep with your other PC backups. That will make it easier to restore it in case of future mishaps.

Ah well bit more typing during lockdown wont take too long, only 190 inputs ha ha

I don't think so, unfortunately.

Uploading a Gedcom file over-writes your existing GR tree, as you've discovered.
I don't think it's reversible.

Try emailing [email protected].
I don't know if they'll be able to help, but it's worth a try.
They usually reply within 3-5 working days - though that may not be the case at present.

I wouldn't be too optimistic, though.
