If John shows as age 17 in 1881 then he could have been born in 1864 or 1863. |

Thanks for your replies, i cant see the transcribed census but thanks for that note, John was born in Ireland 1864 son of Thomas Murphy and Ann Malley siblings Mary1866,Catherine1867,Ann 1873 Michael 1870, 1881 census Perth they are all together by 1891 John is gone, i know Michael emigrated to Aust, thats why i thought the child Ann b 1888/91 was Johns daughter but as you say could be daughter of Catherine or Mary if they did not marry. |

On the 1891 census that you quote, Ann's 'occupation' has been transcribed as 'weeks' |

For 1911 you need Scotlandspeople - Ancestry does not have it. |

Is there a free site i can look at marriage records from around 1885 in Perth, Perthshire. Also is the 1911 census available cant see it on Ancestry. Searching a John Murphy b 1864 he is with family in 1881 age 17, he has a daughter Ann b 1888 in 1891 census living with her grandparents Thomas and Ann although listed as their child, by 1901 she is listed as grandchild. |
