DNA test results and beyond...

In December 2018 I took the 'Living Dna test' - from that I received two matches of names, both 5th cousins who were not interested in this remote connection.

As a result of that I have tried to complete the names and details of 32 antecedents (7th generation?) some go further back .

However since there are a couple of illegitimate births , so unknown fathers, unknown baptisms for men, etc. I am missing 12 names of the possible 32..

So my question is ,
1. Shall I try another Test, and
2. which would be best for English entries? and
3. missing names -how can they connect?

Hi Margaret.

Ancestry is probably best for British results. When it was free to do I uploaded my reasults to My Heritage which wasn’t,t that good for matches.

I did a fresh test with Living dna because I wanted their version of the ethnicity map.

But, before you fork out for a new test try uploading to Genesis ged match you should pick up some results from there.

Well I took the ancestry test and found it good

Matched me with some family contacts that I hadn’t known before

But any test results are only as good if others have done theirs and uploaded their tree and made it public
