Welcome back, Haydon.

If you upload a new GEDCOM to your existing account, it will overwrite the old tree - you'll lose the old tree, in effect.

You could open an additional GR account (a free one) , using a different email address from your main one, and upload the file to a new tree on that account, so that you could still keep the old tree as well. One tree per account.

Info here re uploading a GEDCOM file:

For any more technical questions re file format, best to contact:
[email protected]

They'll take a few days to reply.

I am returning to Genes Reunited after a break and want to update my online tree.

Will uploading a new gedcom file update my current tree? Im worried about wiping the current one and not being able to upload a replacement.

What file format do i use for the new Gedcom file as my Geneaology programme offers several?

Thanks in advance
