can anyone tell me why a birth could be registered with 2 different surnames but with all other details the same, with the same listing in the register? |

It's because the parents weren't married but the father is named on the birth certificate |

the particular relatives parents were married previously {approx 5 years earlier} however the child has been registered with both the married name of the mother and father and then another of a future partner and mother? |

well seems like she was married so that was her current surname but the husband wasn't the father , it was the future spouse who was the father and he is named as the father on the cert |

it all is quite confusing !!! :-D but this seems to make sense. i think the confusion comes in because the childs surname is listed as two different surnames but the mothers maiden name remains the same. i thought he had been registered by two fathers! thank you for your help. its most appreciated and has cleared the fog. ;-) |
