Ellen Toker, wife of the celebrated Mariner, Edward Toker, died in the NDL Asylum, Dublin North, in 1883, of Debility. According to her death cert, she had been there for 2 years. Her husband died 2 years later. I would value any opinions as to why someone would be admitted to an asylum in 1880s Ireland as I can find no records of her admittance. Neither does her death seem to have been mentioned in any newspapers, despite her husband's fame. |
