Occupation - Air Steward - in 1957

Hi,
I have someone emigrating from London to Sydney in 1957 and his occupation is air steward. This strikes me as rather early for that occupation and I wondered if anyone has any ideas/knowledge of which airline he may have worked for. The days of chartered holiday flights were still in the future weren't they?

Lots of the big airlines were in operation then like KLM etc

They would do international flights
