Her Father, my GF was Thomas Atkinson b 1880 -d 1957 fact
My GGF was John Atkinson fact
My GGGF was Joseph Atkinson fact

In 1928 my GF married his second wife Janet Stewart d 1945
I know this because I had their wedding and death certificates.

What I would like to know is my GF's first wife. He was a widower when he remarried.

Have you found him on the 1939 register

Edit nope that won't work because he remarried before then

What area did they live

Have you located him on any census
Do you have occupations for them

Not seeing the marriage so presume it was Scotland ???

If so you need Scotlands People website which isn't a subs site

There's around 12 marriages ( Newcastle) for a Thomas Atkinson between 1901 and 1928 second marriage, so may be difficult!

David do you know if there were any children to the first marriage? That would narrow it down a bit perhaps.

My Grand Father Thomas Atkinson was married more than once and fathered several children. My Mother Ella Doreen Atkinson being the youngest b1928-d1994
Mother had several brothers and sisters. All had Thomas Atkinson for a Father.
GF was a widower when he married Janet Stewart Dodds a widow abt1919 Janet died in 1945 Janet had been married to a chair maker from South Shields(?)
Thomas had been married to woman called Rutherford who I know was the Mother of his son Joseph.
Other sons to Thomas were, George, Ralph, and others. His daughters were named Alice, May, Ethel, Nellie, Janet and my Mother Ella Doreen..

What I don't know and seek help with is which of the children were born to Rutherford and which to JANET STEWART DODDS"
