False (?) information on a tree on Ancestry -
it says she married Francesco "Frank" Angelo Lini (1910-80) in Manhattan, NY, on 12 Sept 1931.
Had three children: Robert Patrick (1932-2001); Frances A (1935 - ? ); and David C (1938 - ?)
I got quite excited - until I looked up the 1940 census, and found that Frank's wife's name was Carol J Lini ! And on the marriage record, her name was Carol J Brown.
How can people get things so wrong?! EDIT: Or maybe not - see below.
EDIT:
Unless Minnie had changed her name to Carol J Brown ??
Carol and Frank apparently divorced and remarried (to each other) a couple of times, according to the tree.
Carol was born in England:
Carol Lini in the 1940 United States Federal Census Name: Carol Lini Respondent: Yes Age: 31 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1909 Gender: Female Race: White Birthplace: England Marital Status: Married Relation to Head of House: Wife Home in 1940: New York, New York, New York Map of Home in 1940: View Map Street: West 112 Street House Number: 526 Inferred Residence in 1935: New York, New York, New York Residence in 1935: Same Place Citizenship: Having first papers Sheet Number: 4B Attended School or College: No Highest Grade Completed: Elementary school, 8th grade Weeks Worked in 1939: 0 Income: 0 Income Other Sources: No Neighbors: Household Members: Name Age Frank Lini 29 Carol Lini 31 Robert Lini 7 Frances Lini 5 David Lini 2
EDIT AGAIN:
No, she can't be the same person.
Her father's name given as Brown at her death , and mother's surname Spencer.
California Death Index, 1940-1997 View Record Name Carole Joy Lini Social Security # 130141658 Gender Female Birth Date 18 Nov 1908 Birth Place Other Country Death Date 31 Jan 1996 Death Place San Diego Mother's Maiden Name Spencer Father's Surname Brown

Or could there be some sort of half truth in it?
Carl/Charles Malmberg did marry a Spencer (also stated on that tree):
Elizabeth Spencer in the England, Select Marriages, 1538–1973 Name: Elizabeth Spencer Gender: Female Marital Status: Single Marriage Date: 17 Apr 1881 Marriage Place: Liverpool, Lancaster, England Father: William Spencer Spouse: Charles Malmberg FHL Film Number: 1656375 Reference ID: It 5 p 58
EDIT:
Ah, I see I've already suggested this couple - 21 Aug 2017 14:34
I don't see any birth of a Carol(e) Joy Brown in 1908 in England.
The same tree does show Doris Desmond's arrival in Canada in 1930 (already posted on page 2), as part of Minnie's timeline - so maybe Carol is indeed Minnie/Doris.
Info re parents on a death record are only as good as the informant "knows".

Do you have Minnie's birth cert for exact date of birth?
Carol's DOB as stated in her death record does fit with Dec qr 1908, when Minnie was born.

Hello Alison,
it’s Jacqui Edwards here, Minnie’s niece. I have tried to send a message to you both my Genes Reunited membership lapsed. I have joined this month just to send this message!
I presume the Ancestry tree ArgyleGran refers to is mine, so the question must be…
“How can we get it so right!?”
I can confirm to you that Minnie Dayer and Carole Joy Brown are the same person and this is the person/information you’ve been looking for!
You will be aware it was my dad who documented Minnie’s early days and he got most of it right.
She was adopted by the MALMBERG’S in Bootle, they were an older couple in their fifties at the time of the adoption. Charles MALMBERG was a marine engineer with the Cunard line and he died when Minnie was around 5 years of age, leaving her in the charge of Charles’ widow Elizabeth (Spencer). If you look at our tree on Ancestry (where you will find a photo of Minnie / Carol in her later years) you will see, we have found documents showing that Minnie was travelling using the names Doris DESMOND and her birth name Minnie DAYER.
When Minnie crosses from Canada to the US, she states the purpose of her visit was to see an Aunt and Uncle, giving their detail as Carl O MALMBERG. This is Carl Oscar MALMBERG, Charles A MALMBERG’S Brother!
We know that Carl helped her out financially and set her on her way. Problem: Minnie was on a temporary Visa which by now had expired. We don’t know where the name Carole Joy Brown came from but we presume she adopted a new identity because she was scared of getting into trouble.
This caused her problems later on as she could not get US citizenship having entered the country in a different name and having no birth certificate. We know now that she didn’t get a copy of her birth certificate (Minnie Dayer) until she was in her 70s
All the facts fit, dates documentation, names except is hard to see how we found she changed her name to Carole Joy Brown?
Well the fact is we didn’t, our trail ended in Chicago.
Then we got a message on Ancestry from one of Carole’s granddaughters from San Diego saying guess what? My Nan Carol Lini is your aunty Minnie… You can also find her tree on Ancestry
So there you go -Minnie DAYER was born on 18 November 1908 in Liverpool, Lancashire to Rachel Plunkett, her adopted father, Charles Malmberg, was 55, and his wife, Elizabeth Spencer, was 51. She married Francesco "Frank" Angelo LINI on 12 September 1931 in Manhattan, New York, USA. They had five children in 12 years. She died on 31 January 1996 in San Diego, California, USA, at the age of 87 and had many grandchildren
Best wishes, Jacqui
