no I know he was married to emma meadows my grt grt grandmother but know nothing about his father/parents

How sure are you that your Thomas Nice was born 1837? I wouldn't discount the baptism at Marks Tey. Marks Tey and Stanway are very close.

did you find his fathers death he died before Thomas was married

I thought that one as couldn't find any others but don't much about Essex .
