I wonder if anyone can help me find any information i.e. where he was born, parents, etc. , for Mathew Thompson. The 1841 census in Cumberland has him as 25 born 1816 in Scotland. He was married on 5th July 1838 in Cumberland there is no age given on marriage certificate it just states `of full age`. Father on marriage certificate is Matthew Thompson. Mathew died in Alston Cumberland on 27th December 1845 the death certificate gives his age as 32, if that age is correct it would mean he was born in 1813. Informant of death is Thomas Thompson, don`t know if its a relation. Appreciate any help on this. Ken |

Don't forget that in the 1841 census, ages of anyone over 15 were supposed to be rounded down to the nearest 5, so someone listed as 25 could be anywhere between 29 and 25. So born c1811-1816 depending on when their birthday fell. |
