I believe so (as long as a Will was made).

Yes, but if it was very recent it might not have gone to probate yet.

If you can't find it on Austin's link, wait a bit and try again.

It has gone to probate but I typed the name in and nothing there?

Maybe the online records haven't caught up as yet - I can't imagine they are updated daily, perhaps only monthly or quarterly. As suggested above, wait a while and try again.

You could ask at the Probate office nearest the address of the family member or executor who is dealing with the deceased's business.

It might have 'gone to Probate', but it doesn't mean that it's been granted yet. My father's Grant wasn't issued until the following year. In total, May of the year he died to June the following one, with a partial Grant to release funds in the Nov.

Sometimes, if the whole Estate is left to the surviving spouse or the total value is too small, it never reaches the Probate Calendar

I have just had a look at 2016, using a fairly common name so that there were lots of entries.

The most recent probate entries were last week and the most recent deaths were September.

If you know that the will has gone to probate, can you find out whether probate has been granted? One other point, did the person die in England/Wales? If not, their will won't be on the link above.
