I have just received my G-Grandmother's Death Certificate. We have always been told that she died in childbirth in 1903. There was no child, to our knowledge. But, the existing 3 year old was "adopted" by a neighbor and the 9 & 10 year old sons were I believe put into military schools (not confirmed). So thinking that the child may have just been given away when the mother died. The father did not seem to reliable.
The Certificate states:
Parturition 11 days
Pulmonary Apoplexy 1 hour.

Do you think the child was born 11 days prior to her death and then she had the stroke or whatever it was? Just trying to figure out if I'm interpreting this correctly.

parturition means Birth so yes, looks like she gave birth 11 days prior to death

You could look for a birth of a possible child or otherwise look in parish burial registers to see if a stillborn child is recorded.

Pulmonary apoplexy

Pulmonary apoplexy refers to hemoptysis that occurs from rupture of a bronchial vein due to severe mitral valve stenosis causing pulmonary venous hypertension.

In layman's terms, I gather it means that she suffocated due to the lungs filling with blood

If there was a stillborn child, it would probably have been interred with whoever was next on the list for the funeral director. Unlikely to be any record

It's ALWAYS worth looking for a stillborn burial.

The child may not be recorded, but I have records which note children's address and date and place of burial many years before Christine's relative.

What was her name and age? Have you looked for them on the 1911 census?

In todays terms she died from a child birth hemorrhage and a blood clot a common cause in those days ,,,,,,at least thats how I see it as learned from my nursing days.

A blood clot was often termed as White Leg caused by the lying in bed time as was the norm then of at least 2 weeks to a month after giving birth.
