Thanks very much Moonbeam. That certainly could be them. How exciting. They are older than my friend and I, Barbara being the middle child of her family - and I think they would be 80+ now. probabl;y 81/82. How nice to know they are still alive. I wondcer if their offspring stayed in Canada or ever visited their 'kin' in England. Thanks for your efforts.

There is a listing on Canada411 for an Alan and Barbara Statham living in Prince Edward Island.

Check here:

Only two listings on 411 for N Statham

there is no other Gawthorpe/Statham marriage, so unless the 1971 birth was illegitimate, it is a child of Barbara

Yes I have the marriage - it is Statham and there are three other births besides Deborah but I cannot be certain if they are hers. Sorry but I have no idea when they went but suspect it was the 60's so I gather from your replies that I cannot find out that way. We - my friend and I - only have contact info for one of her siblings but although we correspond with her occasionally, she never replies unfortunately. Not to worry, it was only idle curiosity during a casual conversation recalling our old friends. Thanks for trying. PS as for looking at the Canadian phonebook - it is a heck of a big place and as we have no idea what area she went to, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack !!!

Did she marry in the UK?

If the migration was after 1960, there will be no online records

Have you thought of looking in the Canadian phone book?

Or on here............in search trees

A friend and I were chatting the other day recalling our youth and the folk we knew and we wondered what happened to one particular person who emigrated to Canada. Her name was Barbara Statham nee Gawthorpe and she had a daughter Deborah plus probably a couple more children and husband Alan. How would we go about trying to find out about her as we are not sure what year she went (probably 60's) and have no idea where in Canada she emigrated to. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
